GENERAL
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MADIDI NATIONAL PARK
Madidi was created and designated National Park and Natural Area of
integrated Management on September 21st, 1995.
Area:
Madidi has an extension of 1.895.750 hectares (18.957 km2), from which
1.271.500 hectares belong to the National Park and 624.250 hectares to the
Natural Area of Integrated Management.
Location:
Madidi is located in the north-eastern part of the La Paz Department,
inside the provinces of Franz Tamayo, Abel Iturralde, Bautista Saavedra and
Larecaja. It also involves the districts of Apolo, San Buenaventura, Ixiamas,
Pelechuco, Curva, Charazani, and Guanay. It borders with Peru to the west.
